Recent CT CIC Awards and Honors
It gives us immense pleasure to announce that CT CIC Associate Medical Director, Francis Baffour, MD, has been named the 2024 Gabriel P. Krestin Visiting Professor in Radiology & Nuclear Medicine at Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
The Gabriel P. Krestin visiting professorship—named for a former Department of Radiology head at Erasmus MC—is a two to four week honor wherein Dr. Baffour will teach and exchange knowledge with Erasmus MC’s experienced photon-counting CT team, all in the spirit of international collaboration.
William and Charlie Mayo in the early days of the Clinic would often travel far afield to observe new medical procedures and techniques and, in turn, welcomed visitors to Rochester to learn. Thus the value of institutional cooperation was ingrained at the very start of our practice, and we are very proud to have Dr. Baffour continue this tradition. We wish him well in Rotterdam and look forward to what him and the Erasmus MC team can do together.
Additionally, some CT CIC team members recently took home awards at conferences this fall:
- At ISCT 2023, Scott S. Hsieh won 2nd Place Scientific Paper for "Spectral information from Compton scattering in silicon photon counting detectors"
- At the Korean Congress of Radiology, Yong (Bruce) Lee won the Best Scientific Exhibition Gold Award for "Photon count Detector (PCD) CT: Cased-based, Illustrated Review for Cardiovascular Imaging"
